I purchased pieces of furniture (an accent chair with ottoman and a side table) from the online home depot website. The order was placed with *** **** ****** telephone number XXX-XXX-XXXX. The item was ordered and when received in home depot it was picked up by delivery truck and dropped off to Tropical in Florida. Before I could get the items, the documents for the shipment were picked up from Tropical on St. Thomas and taken to Excise Tax office to pay taxes (we did not have to pay as there is an exemption for personal items) and customs to pay custom fee. Tropical was then paid $281.50. This was all based on documents stating that the furniture was delivered. However, when we went to pick up the item, the Tropical employee brought out a pallet of card board boxes. We NEVER received the items ordered. I was told by Mr. Saxon at home depot that the mix-up was at Tropical as a Tropical employee placed the wrong label on the items and my items were probably shipped to Suriname based on the name on the papers for the pallet of cardboard boxes. Home depot is refunding the money for the order. Tropical St. Thomas is now refusing to refund the money for the items I NEVER RECEIVED.
