On December 11, 2019 I ordered a new Sphero BB-8 app controlled robot from Amazon, it has been used maybe once or twice per week since that date. A few weeks ago I noticed that it wasn't holding a charge anymore. I reached out to Sphero support on April 19th of this year. That day and the next they worked with me on attempting to troubleshoot the issue. Once they determined that it was not going to be able to be fixed or replaced they sent me the following message on April 20th: ------------------------------------------------------ Greetings, I appreciate your patience as we ran through the troubleshooting process. Unfortunately, we have run out of options to get the unit up and running again. Since Sphero hasn't sold this product for a few years, we do not carry replacements in inventory any longer. Your best option is to contact the retail partner for an exchange or return/refund. I am sorry that we were not able to revive the unit. Please let me know if you have anyCustomer Reviews
I would rate the help I received at a 1/2 star.We purchased this new and our son unboxed it from the wrapper on either Christmas or his birthday which is just before Christmas. Just a few months in we had to replace the charging cord, just replaced it a second time to find out the batteries are no good. Its interesting, our son hardly ever played with it. He looked at it a lot, but really only played with it 3, 4, possibly 5 times. So I connect with SPHERO for a cord, cord doesnt work, connect back for next steps, was told the batteries are no good, which considering it was only in use a few times is unacceptable, but, if within the 1 year manufacturers warranty could be replaced. So we send in our proof of purchase, and are told we didnt purchase it from a distributor and wed have to buy another. Talk about sleazy way out, thats something a slippery snake would do, find a slimy way out. Some HERO this organization is not! I got a 7 year young boy who literally, as sure as your name is _______________ (you fill in the blank), I got a young man over here who made a grave stone to set behind his Lightning, then went outside, plucked a flower bud, and set it on top of Lightning as he mourned the death of his friend. And heres Dad just trying to encourage him and talk to him and let him know ive been talking with SPHERO and they asked for the receipt so I sent it, and Im just waiting on them to email back, and its ok ********** got this theyre going to send a new one because we have had it less than a year, so its all good bubba weve all got you a new Lightning coming. All that, to receive a sloppy way out from honoring a commitment, a commitment to warranty the quality of a product for one year. Shouldnt matter where the product was bought or sold. What should matter is if proof can be shown that it was purchased new within one year, because if so, that clearly shows quality control issues with the manufacturer. Clearly I believe the Support I received is unacceptable. That could always be changed, and I hope its changed, just like a decision could be Change to Honor the product by sending a replacement....
